Gwarffynnon Farm

The farm was purchased by Gwen and David in October 1988, exactly a year before they got married and quickly turned this old style traditional property into a modern efficient dairy unit. It is an award winning farm which has won many prestigious local and national awards for the farming system and has been well documented over many years in the local and national press.

Milking commenced in 1991 and since then cow numbers have risen from the original 30 to 110 with a further 100 young stock. These animals are thought of as part of the family, and Dai knows every individual by name and knows their dams and grand dams. Gwarffynnon has a long and unblemished reputation for producing high quality milk, and its animal welfare and husbandry is exceptional. The pedigree cattle are grazed on fresh grass in a natural environment and fed forage of the utmost quality.

During the last 15 years, the farm has twice been named as the best grassland farm in the United Kingdom and has produced the best silage in Wales not fewer than four times. Other accolades include the cleanest and tidiest farm, most well designed farm buildings and the best lowland farm in Wales. Caring for the animals and the environment they live in is top priority.
